Modeling in ICELAND! ~ The Land of FIRE AND ICE

TRAVEL NOTES FOR ICELAND: DAYLIGHT HOURS: Iceland experiences dramatic variations in its day cycles between summer and winter due to its high-latitude location. Keep in mind that daylight may be anywhere from 0%-100% depending on the time of year you visit. AIRPORT / FLIGHTS: You will fly into Keflavik airport (KEF), which is Iceland’s international airport. Reykjavík only has a domestic airport. HOTEL: We based ourselves in a hotel in Reykjavík while visiting Iceland, which offered many amenities nearby for shopping, food, and other essentials. Reykjavík is centrally located about two hours drive away from all of the photoshoot locations mentioned in this video. VEHICLES: Four-wheel drive is a must. Make sure to fill up your gas tank at the beginning of each roadtrip, because gas stations are few and far between. DON’T SPEED! It’s very tempting to speed, but police don’t have much else going on, and they are more than ready to pull over and ticket tourists. CLOTHING: I wore a thick coat, mittens, beanie hat, ear muffs, fuzzy insulated boots and socks, and fleece layers of clothing. ITINERARY IN THIS VIDEO: DAY ONE - Búðakirkja, also known as the Black Church, is an iconic and historic church located on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in Iceland. DAY TWO - Kirkjufellfoss Waterfall and Kirkjufell Mountain form a captivating natural duo situated on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in western Iceland. FUN FACT: This iconic landmark has gained fame worldwide, thanks in part to its appearance in the popular television series "Game of Thrones." DAY THREE - FIRST LOCATION: Reynisfjara, often referred to as Black Sand Beach, is a renowned natural wonder located on the southern coast of Iceland. WARNING: It's important to note that the ocean here can be treacherous, and the waves are known for their power and unpredictability, so visitors should exercise caution and respect safety warnings. SECOND LOCATION - Reyniskirkja Church is a picturesque and historic church located in the charming coastal village of Vík í Mýrdal in southern Iceland. DAY FOUR - Dyrhólaey Lighthouse, perched on a prominent promontory on Iceland's southern coast, is a historic and iconic beacon that has been guiding ships through the treacherous waters of the North Atlantic for over a century. FUN FACT: The Puffin mating season is a remarkable natural spectacle that takes place in the summer months, typically from late April to early August, where they return to their breeding colonies during this time. BONUS EVENT During our return journey to Reykjavík, our home base for the week, we were treated to a breathtaking display of the Northern Lights / Aurora Borealis! *NOTE for Viewing the Northern Lights: It is not always a guarantee that you will get to see the Northern Lights during your visit to Iceland! You can download a Northern Lights / Aurora Borealis tracking app in advance, which helps predict the possibility of them showing up. We were VERY lucky to see them in the summer! DAY FIVE - Háifoss and Granni are two breathtaking waterfalls located in the remote and pristine wilderness of the Icelandic Highlands. Not far from Háifoss and Granni lies Hjálparfoss, a more easily accessible but equally striking waterfall. FUN FACT: Icelandic sheep are a unique breed who have evolved and adapted to the country's challenging climate. DAY SIX - FIRST LOCATION: Skógafoss is a majestic and powerful waterfall located in southern Iceland, situated along the Skógá River, and is renowned for its remarkable beauty and thunderous cascade. SECOND LOCATION: The Sólheimasandur Crash, also known as the Sólheimasandur Plane Wreck, is a famous and eerie landmark located on the black sand plains of Sólheimasandur in southern Iceland. FUN FACT: During our photoshoots with the flying dresses in this location, an assistant was necessary to help hold up the train of the dress from the opposite side of the camera, making it appear as though the wind was naturally guiding the flow. Without help, the dresses would be uncontrollable in the high winds, and would probably sweep the models off their feet! BONUS LOCATION: Rútshellir, also known as Rút's Cave, is a fascinating historical site in Iceland that offers a glimpse into the country's past.
